The Search for a New Executive Director

In May, the Board of Directors launched a search for the next Executive Director of the Hub, and as part of that transition, current Executive Director Colleen McSwiggin has stepped down from her position. Co-founder Carrie Harms, who serves as the Hub’s Warehouse Director, will continue to lead the day-to-day operations of the Hub as she has done since the Hub opened in 2021.

A new executive director will allow for fresh perspectives on further reaching the goals of community recycling for our region. The Hub is in a great position to enable new leadership to continue the growth smoothly with a successful three years of operations under the organization’s belt. I am grateful for all the partners, volunteers, and staff who have contributed to the hard work and sweat effort to reach this point.
— Colleen McSwiggin

"As a co-founder, Colleen was a key to the Hub launch and success. She not only brought the vision of what the Hub could be in our organization but her vision, along with the other co-founders, brought excitement for this aspect of sustainability to the entire region. Colleen worked tirelessly not only to open our Price Hill location but to also secure off-site collection programs including community-centric electronics recycling events and a Rumpke-sponsored battery collection program at five fire stations and growing. We’re grateful for everything she has done and look forward to building upon that foundation.” - Max Kilb, board president

Established in 2021, the Hub has diverted 470 tons from the landfill and has become a community staple, broadly supported by various donors, grants, volunteers, and employees. Last year, the Hub reached the milestone of being able to take all plastics that cannot go in curbside bins and this year will cross 1 million total pounds diverted.
