Meet Stephanie, our new Executive Director!
After a three month long search, we have a new Executive Director of the Hub!
Stephanie Cornett joined our small but mighty staff and is learning the ropes around the Hub. We snagged a little of her time for a short interview to help our community get to know her.
What do you think of the Hub so far?
I love the culture at the Hub because it's all about the people—they're the true power behind everything we do. They're incredibly intelligent, passionate, and dedicated to making a real difference.
What's the most surprising thing about your new role?
One of the fun surprises in my new job is mastering the freight elevator—who knew feeling confident operating that beast would be such a satisfying skill to pick up?
What's the most unusual past work experience you have?
One of the most memorable moments from my past work experience was being inside the ropes on the first tee with Tiger Woods as he teed off at an international golf tournament—talk about front-row seats to greatness! Or, there was the time I was executive producer for Jerry Springer on the radio, where I'd get nightly calls from Jerry himself to strategize our next show. Never a dull moment!
Favorite things to do on your time off work?
When I'm not at work, you’ll probably find me juggling multiple books because I’m a voracious reader who can never pick just one. I also love getting creative with repurposed materials, turning magazine images and other ephemera into unique collages. And, of course, there's nothing better than spending quality time with my family and our dog, Millie.
Favorite Cincinnati businesses or nonprofits?
You can’t make me choose just one favorite! Cincinnati is overflowing with incredible businesses and nonprofits doing amazing work, and it’s exciting to see how much we’re growing. The Hub is a perfect example—it launched and found success in just three years, which speaks volumes about our community's dedication. I’m especially proud of our city’s push towards sustainability and the outstanding park services we offer. But if I absolutely had to pick a favorite, I’d say Graeter’s Ice Cream is at the top of my list. I mean, who doesn’t love a scoop of Graeter’s? My fav is a double scoop of butter pecan and chocolate chip.
Do you have a favorite quote?
“Make every effort to change things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution.” - Maya Angelou
Biggest plans for 2025 at the Hub?
As I continue learning and exploring how things work at the Hub and our impact on the community and the Earth, my 2025 plans are all about expanding our reach. I’m excited to create new community partnerships and strengthen the ones we already have. Plus, I’m looking forward to getting to know the passionate folks who visit the Hub and are dedicated to recycling and reuse in Cincinnati. My goal is to cultivate a vibrant network of eco-champions who join forces to drive even more impactful change and lighten the load on our landfills.
